My friend Caroline asked if Theo and I wanted to join her and her two little guys at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum today. Sure! Who knew hanging out with a 4-year-old, a 2-year-old and a 1.5-year-old could be this non-stressful and fun?
My favorite parts of the afternoon:
Having 4-year-old Peter make fun of my preggo belly button. Apparently, having a wee bit of an outie is hilarious. It kind of is, so who can blame him. He’d poke it and laugh, laugh, laugh. Then demand to see other people’s buttons, too. Love him!
Seeing Theo clearly adore hanging out with a big kid. Totally smitten, that one. If only I could push out a big bro for Theo all would be blissful in his world.
Realizing that when the majority of your attention is on running toddlers and preschoolers, the baby is still just fine.
Watching Caroline totally able to handle parenting two kids. Yes, her car smelled like rotten milk. Yes, we had to go back to the museum to retrieve a lost hat. Yes, there were times when she was like, “wait, where’s my kid?” But there was no panic. No parental meltdowns. Just smiles and shrugged shoulders. Color me hopeful!
