In honor of my birthday, Nate and I made a big decision about our new baby’s birthday...
He’s going to be born at home.
Nate and I met the midwife today. She is so warm and smart and not crunchy or weird or anything. She answered all of our questions. Nate had his what-about-an-emergency questions lined up, while I asked the clean-up and the very important “Do you do the newborn footprints?” questions.
I feel good about this. Really good. I’m downright excited about giving birth again. Can you even imagine? I don’t have to experience that heinous car ride to the hospital. I can do whatever the heck I want during labor with no annoying white coats telling me to lay down or get out off the toilet. The whole family can snuggle in bed together on the baby’s very first day on the planet. Plus, I can send Nate next door to get my very favorite been-waiting-9-months-for-you tuna sandwich as my first post-baby meal.
