I woke up needing pancakes. A pancake yearning, if you will.
“Nate, I need pancakes. Let’s go to brunch.”
This may seem like an unremarkable conversation to the untrained ear, but my heart nearly skipped a beat with the utterance of those two letters. You see, Nate’s never super-excited about taking Theo to restaurants. It’s not, um, relaxing. So I often get shot down and bought an egg and cheese from the corner deli instead.
But today the boys were game AND well behaved. It was soooo enjoyable. I’m serious. It made my whole day. Theo happily gobbled up his fruit and pancakes without tossing any silverware or blueberries. I did too. And Nate got to successfully knock back two—count ’em TWO—mimosas. And we both polished off our coffees before they got cold.
I’m going to need pancakes a whole lot more often, I think.
