You know when you start your day (at say, 1:00am because of a screaming baby) totally hating everyone (like, I don’t know, your spouse), then by the end of the day you are so amazed that you got through it all that you love everyone that much more? Well, that’s been my day.
Theo did not sleep well last night—at all: 20 minutes here, 40 minutes there; each snooze-session bookended by blood-curdling screams. And when he finally seemed to get into a restful state, I had to wake him up to get ready to go to North Carolina. (Tracy! Keith! Zoe!
) There were taxies, airports, plane rides, rental cars, ill-fitting car seats, malfunctioning GPS, yadda yadda…
But by the time our little family pulled into Tracy’s driveway, all the stress melted away. Next thing I know, Theo is fast asleep, there is a breathtaking one-month old cradled in my arms, everyone is smiling, and there’s talk of lunch.
This is going to be a great vacation.
