FRIDAY JUNE 8 2007
There are many scary things about taking the new-family show on the road, like…

Theo on a plane…

Me and Nate on a plane with Theo…

Angry passengers on a plane with me, Nate, and Theo…

And of course there’s the schedule thing (with Theo be able to have one?) and the sleep thing (will Theo—or I—get any?). But perhaps the scariest thing is simply being a family unit outside of our comfort zone. Existing outside of Brooklyn somehow makes all of this that much more real. I’m not quite sure why. Maybe it’s just allowing the world to witness us. Maybe it’s the vulnerable feeling that people—strangers on a plane, family, the cab driver—are silently assessing how we’re doing.

Do I care what they think? I do. Not a ton, but enough to admit it.
